How we accomplish our mission

We love finding trusted community partners to fund and work with, so we know the communities that need it most are getting the help they need. But that’s just one piece of the financial well-being puzzle. Free tools and resources make financial wellness possible for everyone, and we’ve made it our mission to prioritize the most user-friendly, helpful tools that empower individuals to take ownership of their finances. The Benefits Wayfinder is one example of this. We also know that without policy change, people are left fighting against a system that keeps them in poverty. That’s why we continually fight for policies that protect those living on low incomes. One example is our fight against NSF fees. We supported the proposal to reduce these exorbitant fees from $45 to $10 and under.

Financial Empowerment Interventions

Financial empowerment isn’t like most other poverty reduction approaches. It focuses on helping low-income people participate and feel included in our financial system. It increases their opportunities and knowledge, and fosters behaviours that are critical to their economic security and their ability to invest in their future.
